Directions and Precautions
Carefully mix desired dose with 2 U.S. gallons of pond water in a plastic container and distribute evenly around the perimeter of the pond. First, test the pH level of the water with the API POND WIDE RANGE pH TEST KIT. Then, use dosing cap on bottle to add 5 ml (1 tsp.) of pH DOWN for each 50 U.S. gallons (190 L) of pond water. Wait 24 hours, then test pH again. Repeat treatment as necessary. Tip: pH DOWN works by slowly neutralizing alkaline substance that cause high pH in pond water. It’s important to test the pH when using pH DOWN in the pond. pH should be lowered no more than .5 unites every 24 hours. Do not treat the pond more than once every 24 hours. Plants and algae cause a temporary increase in the afternoon; therefore, pH should be tested in the afternoon to obtain the highest reading.
